Big Bass Caught!

The Cañada de los Osos Ecological Reserve provides youth with a fishing experience that is both fun and educational. Each year approximately 100 kids participate in the program, and learn about fishing for warm water fish in two stock ponds on the Reserve. As part of the fishing event, some of the fish are measured, weighed, and tagged to collect information about the fish populations in the Reserve's ponds.

Any group of 10-15 youngsters under the age of 16 can make a date by contacting the Friends of Cañada de los Osos Ecological Reserve. All that's needed is a fishing rod, worms, small lures and plugs to catch bluegill and large-mouth bass.

The best time for a fishing event is late spring and early summer. To plan a date, contact
